Casino staff normally allude to chips as "cheques," which is of French background. Technically, there's a distinction between a chip and a cheque. Technically, in land based craps rounds, we compete with cheques, and not chips. Every once in a while, a player will walk up to the the table, drop a one hundred dollar cheque, and inform the dealer, "Cheque change." It is amusing to act like a novice and say to the dealer, "Hey, I am new to this game, what is a cheque?" Most of the time, their wacky responses will amuse you.
